Perspective

Your perspective is something that typically you don't have a lot of control over. Personally I always believed that the only perspective I could even read from was that of a straight white man. However a class assignment showed me different. Initially I read on the black perspective on GG which proved very insightful. After also reading about the queer and female perspective I was left with several thoughts regarding changed perspectives in literature. For starters, when approaching a piece of literature you have leave any cultural bias you may have behind. What I mean by that is that when your trying to change perspectives, you have to fully immerse yourself in the other perspectives culture. The second detail I noticed was that in any novel   you could view the novel from pretty much any cultural sense. Taking GG for example, there were enough perspectives to be found to fill a book. They are two fictional villages Fitzgerald has created to represent the different ideas of the newly rich and the old...

The seven days

For my blog I decided to write from the perspective of Guitar.         Throughout my life I have experienced nothing but poverty at mistreatment. Its something I have pondered for a long time and the root of all my hardship has been oppression from white people. In fact, the root of my peoples oppression has been because of whites. I am one of the few blacks who hasn't bowed down to white oppression; I'm willing to go to any length to protect myself and my people, which is why I choose to begin participating in the Seven Days. One of the thing that all members of the Seven Days hold in common is our poverty. People like Milkman are blinded by their wealth and fail to see what I so clearly do. They are whitewashed and choose to remain slaves to whites. My participation in the group is based off of this, as if they cannot save themselves then I must. Do I hate white people? Yes I do. But my activities in the group are not motivated by that, but rather my ...
